Surgical Technologist Certified
About The Position
Performs patient care activities in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) as assigned to assist the registered nurse or physician. Anticipates and plans individualized care for the patient based on advanced knowledge of the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) surgical case and anticipates unexpected patient and surgeon needs. Assists CVOR surgical cases by running the table and assisting the surgeon at an expert level utilizing the principles of surgical asepsis, infection control, universal precautions, and life safety. Maintains an orderly and organized work environment and takes responsibility for the maintenance and care of specialty equipment and assists the team to meet both quality and efficiency outcomes. Demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of instrumentation and equipment for cases in the CVOR. Maintains all specialty instrument sets, understands appropriate sterilization methods, and acts as a resource and mentor to non-specialty staff on specialty equipment and instrumentation. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
- Six months' experience as a CVOR surgical technologist or two years' of surgical technologist experience
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) OR National Registered Surgical Technician (NRST) - American Allied Health Association (AAH)
