About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a preceptor, Surgical Services Educator or department leadership, this role provides surgical assistance in the operating room and assists with departmental support activities, adhering to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One day of job shadowing in the Operating Room
• BLS certification

Nice To Haves

• Surgical services or sterile processing experience
• Direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing and setting up the operating room.
• Assists surgical team during operative procedures.
• Assists in terminal cleaning of operating rooms between cases and after the last case each day.
• Creates and maintains sterile field for surgical procedures.
• Assists with maintaining records, reports, and other documentation related to the work, including risk management and performance improvement reports.
• Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and departmental competencies within scope of practice.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.
