About The Position

Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy related to procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures.
• Ability to assemble and troubleshoot equipment as necessary for procedures.
• Ability to safely operate the equipment used in the role.
• Understanding of the principles of asepsis and consistent maintenance of sterile technique.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a formal, accredited Surgical Technician training program or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a Surgical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room.
• Assemble and troubleshoot equipment as needed for procedures.
• Ensure all necessary equipment, including nonnarcotic medications such as Lidocaine, is in the room before a case begins.
• Safely operate electrosurgical, diagnostic, microscopic laser, video, disposable, and specialty-specific equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique and follow the principles of asepsis.
