The Surgical Technician will have the opportunity to assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, as well as assist in preparation of surgical services to ensure suite setup is appropriate.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Orthopedic Surgery
  • Current Surgical Technologist certification required
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) recognized by American Heart Association required

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum six (6) months experience in an orthopedic surgical area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Competency to create and maintain a sterile field, providing equipment and supplies, performing sponge, sharps and instruments counts. Providing visualization of operative site
  • Independently pulls cases utilizing preference sheets and OR special equipment lists. Updates, reviews lists making changes as necessary. Reviews cases, and equipment prior to start of case. Is scrubbed in and has equipment prior to patient arriving into the OR suite​
  • Verifying efficacy of equipment, operating, maintaining and verifying and recording efficacy of equipment
  • Determines and documents efficacy of equipment. Records reflect accurate description of operations, sterilization, and use of equipment
  • Familiar with proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attends in-service on new equipment
  • Attends in-service on new equipment, completes competency evaluation successful in operation and maintaining equipment used within the department
  • In-depth knowledge of principles of sterile technique; General knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures with emphasis on our specific procedures.
