About The Position

Advocate Health is seeking a Part-time Surgical Technician for the Alleghany Health - Surgery Room. This role is crucial for ensuring quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and effective management of case-specific needs, all under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Surgical Technician is responsible for the complete, accurate, and timely care, cleanliness, and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies. Effective, positive, and professional communication with the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients is essential. The position also requires personal responsibility for performance, professional growth, and demonstrating cost containment activities related to instruments and inventory. Requirements

  • Graduation from a Surgical Technology program.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
  • Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
