About The Position

Southwest General Health Center is a 352-bed community hospital located in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. The Surgical Technician II role supports 16 operating rooms that provide a variety of surgical services. Patient acuity varies. Call is required, and on call sleep rooms are available. The amount of call and weekends depend on department needs. This is a caregiver role that provides surgical support under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor. The technician provides the surgeon with instrumentation needs and acts as a liaison between the physician, patient, and family. They collaborate with other healthcare members, assist in the orientation process of new personnel, are responsible for call coverage, attendance at team meetings, assist general surgery as needed, and may participate in other interdisciplinary or departmental committees. The Surgical Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for all general procedures according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technician School or an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing.
  • Prior experience as a Surgical Technician (1 year).
  • If graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing, one year of surgical technician / scrubbing experience required, or two (2) years preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Passage of National Surgical Technician Certification Exam is Preferred.
