About The Position

Canyon Vista Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (Surg Tech) to join their team. This is a full-time position with varied schedules, including 10-hour shifts. The role is vital to the Perioperative Services Department, which provides a wide range of surgical care for Cochise County. Requirements

• Completed a Surgical Tech Program
• Highschool Diploma or Equivalent required
• BLS Certificate required
• Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

Nice To Haves

• 1 to 2 years of surgical tech experience preferred
• Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education/certification

Responsibilities

• Maintain the sterile field in the operating room, ensuring proper aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and infection.
• Set up the operating room before an operation and organize sterile tables with surgical instruments, equipment, sterile linens, and sterile solutions.
• Check, adjust, and operate equipment such as sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain a supply of fluids such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operations.
• Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites; transport, position patients on the table, and cover them with sterile surgical drapes.
• Scrub hands and arms, and put on sterile operating room attire to work within the sterile field and handle sterilized instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments, and providing sterile items efficiently.
• Assist in preparing, caring for, and disposing of specimens for laboratory analysis, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and applying dressings as directed.
• Clean and restock the operating room.
• Adhere to The Joint Commission (TJC) professional standards and attend hospital in-service training sessions.
• Provide age-appropriate care for all age groups.
