Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (or eligibility to obtain within a specified timeframe)
  • Current BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
  • 6 months of on-the-job experience in a healthcare facility
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and instrumentation
  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills & exercises sound and decisive judgment
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Performs effectively in a fast‑paced, stressful environment
  • Takes appropriate action in urgent or high‑pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, including instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating surgical needs
  • Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and supplies to ensure patient safety
  • Handle, label, and maintain specimens according to protocol
  • Clean, sterilize, and restock surgical instruments and operating rooms following procedures
