About The Position

As a Surgical Tech, you will function as an integral team member across all phases of the surgical procedure. Your role is vital for seamless transitions and comprehensive patient care. Every day you will collaborate with the surgical team, meticulously preparing the operating room, assisting the surgeon, and managing instruments and supplies. You will maintain a sterile field and anticipate team needs for efficiency and patient safety. To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective performance under pressure. Your commitment to teamwork and sterile technique will be paramount for safe and successful surgical outcomes.

Requirements

  • Surgical Technician Training Course Graduate
  • 1 year experience in acute care/stand alone ambulatory surgery center with focus on Ortho, Laparoscopic procedures, vascular, ophthalmology; or successful completion of a student clinical rotation at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates adherence to the Standards of Conduct.
  • Completes and turns in the SOC acknowledgement card.
  • Fulfils compliance education requirements as directed by the compliance department or department management.
  • Performs scrub functions for all general or minor specialty cases.
  • Demonstrates competence in use of the computer to generate case cart pick lists and physician preference lists.
  • Updates physician preference lists as necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe principles of positioning patients intra-operatively.
  • Understands the relationship between anatomy and physiology and positioning and recognizes potential safety hazards to the patient.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of aseptic technique.
  • Demonstrates competency in the operation of: Decontamination unit, Steam autoclave, Chemical sterilization unit.
  • Utilizes resources and resource material as appropriate.
  • Adheres to hospital policies, departmental policies and AORN recommended practices.
  • Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel.
