Sr. Surgical Tech/Surgical Tech Float - Periop Float Pool - PT Days
About The Position
The Sr. Surgical Tech utilizes advanced surgical techniques, working as part of the healthcare team to assist with direct patient care activities during medical procedures. Ensures the environment is safe, equipment is functioning properly and procedures are conducted in a way to maximize patient safety. Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery, by gathering and organizing clean and sterile supplies. Sets sterile instrument fields; maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with the orientation of new staff and participates on departmental committees. Required to float between UCI Health locations as needed.
Requirements
- Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility
- Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology
- Required to float between the Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
- Completion of clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology
- Basic Life Support certification
- Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
Nice To Haves
- Possession of a national Scrub Technician certification
