About The Position

This is a full-time (80 hrs/pp, 1.0 FTE) position with variable hours as scheduled. The Surgical Technician performs various tasks before, during, and after surgery to assist the surgical team. This includes preparing the operating room, assisting with patient positioning, preparing the surgical team, handing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and performing other duties as directed by the surgeon. Post-surgery, the role involves applying dressings, counting surgical items, and sterilizing equipment. Additionally, the role may involve Central Supply Technician duties, such as cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling hospital equipment, supplies, and instruments, and storing prepared items.

Requirements

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires registration as a Surgical Technologist in Washington State.
Must have BLS upon time of hire or within 30 days of employment.

Previous experience in central supply preferred.

Responsibilities

Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions.
Assists team members to place and position patient on table.
Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.
Puts dressings on patient following surgery.
Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers.
Cleans operating room.
Cleans, sterilizes and assembles hospital equipment, supplies and instruments according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
Stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas.
