About The Position

Position Details: Full-Time (12 hour shifts/36 hours per week) Pay range: $28.69 - $35.86 (depending on experience) Participation in the coverage of the departmental "On Call" schedule as well as shift adjustment based on the needs of the department is required. Job Summary: The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) assists in the provision of patient care based on the nursing process and in compliance with all hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and procedures. The CST is accountable for maintaining and continually improving their technical knowledge and skills. The CST demonstrates proficiency in the organizational and technical skills required in the surgical setting, including assisting the surgeon during operative procedures. The CST consistently demonstrates patient-centered, patient-valued behaviors and provides care that meets the age-specific and special needs of patients, including those with disabilities. In addition to operating room responsibilities, the CST will be trained and deemed competent to work in Sterile Processing Department (SPD) functions. The CST is expected to assist and provide support in all areas of SPD as needed, including but not limited to decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case cart preparation, in accordance with hospital policy, regulatory standards, and best practices. The CST demonstrates knowledge and compliance with all hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned, as appropriate within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Surgical Technicians required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a hospital.
  • BLS Provider credentialed from American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date.
