CHOMP is a NICOTINE-FREE facility. All drug reports must have a negative result for nicotine/cotinine. If tested positive, it will be submitted for review if the traveler has been prescribed a nicotine patch. For all reports with no legitimate reason for a positive nicotine/cotinine, the contract will be cancelled. This position is for the OR Tech role, working within 6 OR suites, 2 cardiac suites, and 3 outpatient suites. The unit performs 20-25 inpatient cases and 10-12 outpatient cases per day. Required certifications include BLS. NBSTSA is preferred but not required. Common cases include total joints (knees, shoulders, hips), Robotics-XI, Urology, GYN, General, plastics, neuro (spinal & seldom crani's), general, urology (all done in main OR & not OP), a little ENT, outpatient eyes, and GI. Travelers need to be flexible with schedules and may be asked to change their schedule daily depending on needs and cases. Shifts are 10 hours: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM, and 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM. There is no night call for travelers; a regular RN takes all weekday call. Weekend call is rotating, with regular weekend staffing, but travelers may need to backfill if regular staff is on vacation. Weekend call is from 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM for Saturday and Sunday, and the traveler would be on call by themselves. Typically, travelers are not allowed to be on call until they have been in the position for some time and feel comfortable. Holiday call is also rotating. The call response time is 30 minutes. Floating to the outpatient surgery center is possible. Scrub color is provided. Unit/Department specific orientation is 2 weeks.
