About The Position

The Surgical Tech Robotics Coordinator will serve as the primary coordinator for robotic-assisted surgical programs, managing daily robotic case scheduling, ensuring appropriate resource allocation, and optimizing robotic block utilization and case flow in collaboration with surgeons and OR leadership. This role also involves assisting in the development and expansion of robotic service lines. Additionally, the coordinator will function as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in robotic-assisted procedures, maintaining sterile technique and instrumentation. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining robotic equipment, providing intraoperative troubleshooting support, and ensuring the readiness of robotic systems between cases. The position also entails assisting with training and onboarding staff on robotic surgery, serving as a super user for robotic technology, coordinating vendor training, and supporting competency validation. Furthermore, the role involves overseeing robotic instrumentation inventory, ensuring proper sterilization and handling, monitoring instrument usage, and coordinating with Sterile Processing. The coordinator will also monitor key performance indicators, participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensure adherence to best practices and standards, and assist with root cause analysis for equipment or workflow issues. Compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, proper documentation, and support for audits are also key aspects of this role. The position requires collaboration with various teams, acting as a liaison between departments and vendors, and providing input into the strategic planning and growth of robotic surgical services.

Requirements

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • Experience in robotic-assisted procedures

Responsibilities

  • Support competency validation for staff working with robotic systems.
  • Oversee robotic instrumentation inventory, including tracking, maintenance, and replacement.
  • Ensure proper sterilization, handling, and storage of robotic instruments.
  • Monitor instrument usage, lifespan, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Sterile Processing to ensure timely reprocessing of robotic instruments.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as utilization, turnover time, and case efficiency.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to robotic surgery outcomes and patient safety.
  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, AORN standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assist with root cause analysis for equipment or workflow issues.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to policies related to robotic procedures.
  • Support program readiness for audits, inspections, and certifications.
  • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing leadership, and perioperative teams.
  • Act as a liaison between the OR, sterile processing, vendors, and administration.
  • Provide input into strategic planning and growth of robotic surgical services.
  • Assist with coordination of Robotic Steering Committee.
