About The Position

The Surgical Tech in the Periop Float Pool is responsible for assisting with direct patient care in the Operating Room. This includes preparing and stocking the OR, gathering supplies, setting up sterile instrument fields, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with new staff orientation. The role also involves participating in departmental committees. This position requires floating to all UCI Health locations as needed. The identification of essential functions is not exhaustive and may not restrict duties that reasonably relate to the position.

Requirements

• Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility
• Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed
• Completion of clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology
• Basic Life Support certification
• Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

• Possession of a national Scrub Technician certification
