About The Position
The Surgical Tech - OrthoSports position is a full-time role focused on facilitating the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. The role involves preparing the operating suite, handing instruments to the surgeon, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, maintaining instrument organization, and monitoring instrument counts. The position is located at UAB ST Vincent's Birmingham and is part of the OrthoSports department.
Requirements
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
