About The Position
The Surgical Tech - OrthoSports position is a Full Time Days role located at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham. This role facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures by preparing the operating suite, handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, maintaining instruments, and assisting with hemostasis during surgery.
Requirements
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
