About The Position

The Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Surgical Tech-OR functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse. They perform scrub functions and other roles that support the perioperative plan of care. This role demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures and utilizes principles of aseptic technique, including but not limited to gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection. The position actively participates in unit activities, ensures positive customer relations interactions, and is on call for weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.

Requirements

Technical Diploma; Associate degree. (Surgical Tech Program)
Completion of a Surgical Technology program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.

Responsibilities

Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse.
Performs scrub functions and other roles, which support the perioperative plan of care.
Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique including but not limited to gowning, gloving sterilization, and disinfection.
Actively participates in unit activities.
Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
On call weekends, weeknights, and holidays by rotation.
