About The Position

This position provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations, addressing the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. The Surgical Tech communicates continuously with the surgeon and anesthesiologist regarding patient condition, assists the surgeon during operative and improvement activities, and assesses the operating room for equipment functioning and readiness. They obtain necessary supplies for individual cases and ensure all appropriate needs of the surgical operating team are met. The role involves monitoring, positioning, and assisting the patient during procedures. Additionally, the Surgical Tech renders specialized patient care to patients in the Women’s Center, Special Care Nursery, Nursery, and Labor and Delivery Department, supporting medical care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with hospital objectives and policies. This work includes direct and indirect patient care and collaboration with other disciplines involved in patient care.

Requirements

• Certified Scrub Tech
• BLS

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations.

• Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition.
• Assist surgeon during operative and improvement activities.
• Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met.
• Monitors, positions, and assists patient during procedure.
• Renders specialized patient care to patients in the Women’s Center, Special Care Nursery, Nursery, and Labor and Delivery Department, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital.
• Work encompasses direct and indirect patient care and collaboration with other disciplines involved in the provision of care.
