Surgical Tech - L&D - Full Time - Days - 12hr QVH
About The Position
Under the Supervision of the Director, the Surgical Technician assists in the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in creating and maintaining a sterile field and issuing instruments to surgeons. The surgical technician scrubs for surgical procedures for adult and adolescent patients. Cleans instruments and rooms, picks cases, monitors inventory and stocks OR rooms. The Surgical Technician also provides care based on the age-related need of the adolescent and adult patient with consideration of their developmental/psychosocial needs, environmental safety, educational needs, communication style and level of understanding. The Surgical Technician functions within their scope of practice. The Surgical Technician occasionally makes independent decisions within clear and established guidelines, standards and/or procedures. The Surgical Technician is responsible for the safe handling of medications on the surgical sterile field under the direction of the Physician and RN Circulator.
Requirements
- High School or equivalent required.
- Surgical experience is required.
- Excellent customer service skills required.
- BLS required.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Surgical Technician preferred.
