About The Position

Under the direction of a graduate Surgical Technol II and supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, acquire the skill sets to assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room. The Technol Surgical fellow is responsible for adopting both didactic and technical skills sets to safely handle and maintain surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supply management. The Technol Surgical fellow is responsible for preparing the operating rooms for surgery with all necessary items based on surgeon preference card.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Vocational Training
  • Less than one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a scrub person including assisting in assembly of supplies and equipment for procedures, assists surgeon as directed and utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Process surgical supplies and equipment, maintains inventories, and restocks supplies.
  • Demonstrates proactive preparation for procedures by obtaining the correct supplies and instrument prior to the surgical procedure.
  • Demonstrates the proper handling, cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization techniques of instrumentation as provided by the American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), manufacturer's instructions for use and organizational policies.
  • Anticipates needs during the surgical procedure based upon the patient assessment, procedure performed and physician preference.
  • Accurately reports information to the surgical team in order to safely care for the patient.
  • Demonstrates the ability to achieve desired work effectively, efficiently, and without wasted time or resources.
