About The Position

Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity! About the unit This unit is a level 2 trauma center with 20 operating rooms, 2 ORs are dedicated CVOR, in our Area D tower and 6 procedure rooms in our Area A suite. Approximately 45% of our cases are comprised of total joints and ortho cases. The remaining 55% of cases are comprised of General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic, Spine, Vascular and ENT surgeries. We are a growing/thriving cardiovascular service with 2 surgeons who are looking to increase their volume and there will be opportunities for staff to do new and innovative procedures, such as minimally invasive procedures. We are looking for a Surgical Tech with experience in open heart cases to join our team. Scope of work The Surgical Technologist II will be responsible for maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, and making appropriate responses as needed. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols. May serve as a preceptor as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma Required
  • Associate degree or equivalent Required
  • Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program (military, etc.)
  • 1 year of equivalent experience Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience)
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire Required
