Join a dynamic and collaborative surgical team at Piedmont Walton, where we perform over 4,000 procedures annually across four fully equipped operating rooms. As a Level III Trauma Center and ANCC Pathway to Excellence designated facility since 2022, we are committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care 24/7/365—including urgent and emergent add-on cases. Our cross-trained surgical staff supports a broad range of services including orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, robotic-assisted procedures, bariatrics, gynecology, podiatry, and endoscopy. The OR team is composed of RNs, surgical technologists, CSFAs, and procedure support technicians, with staffing aligned to AORN standards to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited a surgical technologist program. Required and completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation period. Required
  • 3 years perioperative services experience Required
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Required and
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required and
  • Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification Required
  • Certified surgical assistant (CSA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
  • Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
  • At time facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.
  • Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
