Requirements

  • First Assistant should be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Certified First Assist (CFA or CSA).
  • Graduate of an Accredited Program in Nursing (BSN required within 3 years of hire); RN - Registered Nurse with Current Ohio License.
  • RNFA - Registered Nurse First Assist.

Responsibilities

  • The Certified Surgical Scrub Technician/First Assist (CST/FA) provides patient care through the application of skills.
  • The CST/FA provides patient care under the direct supervision of the surgeon and works collaboratively with other care team members, the physicians and the patient/family to achieve the optimal patient outcomes.
  • The position has access to confidential patient information and makes decisions in collaboration with others.
  • This individual works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager.
  • When functioning in surgery, this individual works under the supervision of the Physician who is readily available.
  • The Registered Nurse, First Assist (RNFA) provides professional nursing care through the application of nursing skills and process to develop, implement and evaluate patient’s plan of care.
  • The RNFA, as the primary care giver, provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other care team members, the physician and the patient/family to achieve the optimal patient outcomes.
  • The incumbent has access to confidential patient information and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with others.
  • This individual works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager.
  • When functioning in surgery, this individual works under the supervision of the Physician who is readily available.
