About The Position

This is a full-time, day shift position in the Operating Room at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. The Surgical Tech Extern is responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. They must understand the procedure being performed, anticipate the surgeon's needs, and maintain the sterile field to ensure quality patient care. This role functions in partnership with licensed staff and performs patient care duties for various age groups under the direction of a Certified Surgical Technologist and/or a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist program, in their last semester, and graduating within six months.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program without a hands-on clinical rotation.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

• Handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• Understanding the procedure being performed and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
• Ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure.
• Maintaining the sterile field.
• Performing patient care duties for clients of various age groups under the direction of a Certified Surgical Technologist and/or a Registered Nurse.
