About The Position

The Surgical Support Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgery rooms. This position involves preparing spaces before surgeries, managing the turnover of rooms after procedures, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available. Maintaining inventory and providing non-medical assistance are key aspects of creating a well-organized surgical environment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Less than one year of experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Familiarity with basic office equipment and computer systems.
Proven capability to effectively multitask.
Proven capability to autonomously solve problems.
Ability to exhibit precision in work.
Ability to maintain flexibility in dynamic scenarios.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in the OR or EVS.

Responsibilities

Clean surfaces and equipment in the Operating Room (OR).
Decontaminate OR spaces after surgery and as needed.
Dispose of hospital waste safely.
Transport patients, lab samples, and supplies.
Manage inventory by monitoring levels, restocking supplies, and ordering as needed.
Maintain supplies in various areas.
Check supplies for surgeries and audit case carts based on doctor's preferences.
Restock supplies as needed.
Support clinicians inside and outside the operating room.
Open sterile supplies for procedures under clinician supervision.
Prepare for surgeries by checking instrument sets and selecting supplies for cases.
Perform flash sterilization tests.
Respond to emergencies by following established procedures and guidelines.
Complete on-call duties.
Act as a resource for the surgical team.
Hold retractors during surgery (for staff hired before September 1, 2009).
