About The Position

Join our esteemed team at Riley Hospital for Children, boasting 16 cutting-edge operating rooms (ORs) catering to a diverse array of specialties such as General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Ear, Nose, and Throat, Cardiovascular, and Neurosurgery. We are on the lookout for passionate individuals who are committed to excellence in patient care, to become part of our collaborative workforce at one of Indiana's premier Level I pediatric trauma hospitals. This position is a day shift role working Monday-Friday. On-call required. Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Minimum of one year of CVOR experience
  • Ability to resource advanced technology
  • Knowledge of various surgical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment
  • Knowledge of the name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation
  • Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of the sterile field

  • Preferred experience working with pediatric patients
