The Surgical Services Technologist (ST) performs delegated duties to ensure a safe Operating Room (OR) environment, proper cleaning and functioning of equipment, and the safe conduct of operative procedures. The ST possesses expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, combining knowledge of anatomy, surgical procedures, and tools to facilitate procedures. They can manage stressful situations positively and embody OHSU Core Competencies. The South Operating Room (SOR) is a large 25-bed OR primarily serving adult inpatients, with a variety of surgical specialties including Cardiac/Thoracic, General, Gynecology, Neuro/Spine, Orthopedic/Spine, Urology, Vascular, Robotic procedures, and Trauma. Surgical procedures on pediatric patients are also performed if specialized equipment is required. OHSU is Oregon's only public academic health center, a leader in research, and a trainer of healthcare professionals, offering opportunities for learning and advancement across its network of hospitals and clinics.
