As a Surgical Services Support Technician, you will help create a safe and sterile environment for surgical operations and other procedures. Caregivers in this role will be exposed to the latest technologies such as robotic and colorectal surgeries, liver and pancreatic resections offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable medical knowledge through hands-on experience. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within new hire period
  • One year of customer service experience and working in a team environment
  • Must be able to empathize and recognize with patients suffering from physical or emotional difficulties and be sensitive to patient needs

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
  • Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
  • Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
  • Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
  • Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
  • Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.
