Requirements

Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Graduate of an accredited LPN program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Nice To Haves

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Previous Operating Room experience
Minimum one year of surgical experience
Minimum one year of Operating Room experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire

Responsibilities

Prepare and organize operating rooms, ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile
Scrub in and assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and other supplies
Maintain sterile technique and uphold infection prevention standards throughout surgical procedures
Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts before and after procedures
Handle and label surgical specimens accurately
Assist with patient positioning and surgical site preparation
Monitor and communicate patient status changes to the RN and surgical team as appropriate
Clean, restock, and prepare operating rooms for subsequent procedures
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and perioperative staff to ensure seamless patient care
Document intraoperative care and activities as required for LPN and RN roles
