About The Position

As a Surgical Scheduler, you will play a vital role in the care team, supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians and their offices, available OR specialty time, anesthesia, and other departments as necessary (i.e., X-ray, MRI, CT, etc.). You will also coordinate and communicate changes to the existing schedule with appropriate departments/staff and make adjustments to ensure maximum utilization of rooms and equipment. This role involves scheduling next day and beyond surgical procedures, maintaining and updating surgery assignments, printing and distributing future OR schedules to all appropriate areas, and notifying providers with schedule changes and additions. Additionally, you will obtain necessary lab work, x-rays, H&P (History & Physical) as applicable, process patient charges and calculate them based on procedure type, length of procedure, and supplies used, review revenue to ensure charges are entered for every patient, and run reports to verify correct entry of codes and update charges if errors are made. You will also answer, screen, triage, prioritize, and determine the urgency of incoming calls, acting as a resource to providers, staff, patients, and families. Lastly, you will operate and troubleshoot office equipment, arrange for maintenance repairs as necessary, and may maintain inventory of office supplies and complete and submit supply orders to replenish stock.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a health care setting performing customer service functions that may include experiences in scheduling, registration, insurance authorization and/or patient billing
