The Surgical Scheduler I - Orthopedics is responsible for arranging all surgical procedures for assigned surgeons, preparing the daily surgery schedule, and coordinating the scheduling of surgical procedures with hospital surgical services. This role involves corresponding with surgeons and office staff to gather necessary information, clarifying procedure details, verifying physician codes and equipment lists, and entering all surgical requirements into the scheduling system. The scheduler will review potential scheduling options with physicians and staff, estimate case times, and review case requests for specialty time blocks. Additionally, they will enter CPT codes for reimbursement, manage and rearrange surgical cases to resolve conflicts, and optimize the utilization of time and resources. This position requires coordination with various hospital departments, including OR/DSC Unit Leaders and the supply consignment department, to arrange specialty surgical cases and address any special needs. The scheduler will update office staff on arrangements, communicate schedule information and special provisions to coordinating departments, and verify that all departmental requirements are met. They will document all procedure-related changes in the surgery scheduling system and notify physicians and surgical assistants, coordinating their assignments based on availability, procedure type, and physician preference. The role adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
