About The Position

The role supports Inotiv’s in vivo pharmacology laboratory dedicated to running biochemical screening models, functional screening models for target validation, as well as proof-of-concept studies in disease efficacy models to evaluate discovery lead and development compounds. Will be trained and validated on use of anesthesia in rats and mice (e.g. isoflurane, pentobarbital) Will be trained and validated to perform surgeries based on study needs Trains in vivo staff on surgical procedures Post-operatively observes and reports signs of abnormal clinical observations to study PIs and/or manager Orders and/or stocks laboratory surgical supplies and materials Supports technical in-life study work Contributes to studies by collecting and recording animal health and body weight data and assisting with metabolic cage cycling Doses animals by various routes (e.g., SC, IP, PO, IV) Performs blood collection in rats and mice (e.g. tail vein, retro-orbital, cardiac puncture, submandibular) Processes blood samples for production of plasma and/or serum Performs organ harvest and processing in rats and mice May maintain chronically-instrumented animals and record findings (e.g., exteriorized catheters) as directed May be trained to assist with and/or performance of study measurements (e.g., MediBeacon, tail-cuff blood pressure measurement, whole-body plethysmography) May prepare solutions and assist with compound formulation as directed Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent professional experience
  • 3-6 years of in-vivo work experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to be an active team participant
  • Ability to perform high volume, repetitive organizational tasks
  • Ability and diligence with details and record keeping
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with direct exposure to/handling of laboratory animals.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work will require PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Hours are weekdays and some weekday evenings, weekends (day or evenings) and holidays as required.
