About The Position

The Surgical Recovery Technician performs corneal tissue recovery from deceased donors for transplant and medical research. The role supports sight-restoring transplants and requires responding urgently to cases at local and rural Western Kansas hospitals, morgues, and funeral homes. The technician reviews donor medical and health information, conducts full-body inspections, and ensures compliance with EBAA and FDA standards. The position involves independent, hands-on work and clear communication with team members, leadership, and external partners. Once fully trained, the technician may assist with onboarding and training. This part-time, overnight, on-call position is based in Wichita, Kansas. Hours are 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with shifts occasionally extending past 6:00 AM. Candidates must be available for one of two schedules: Thursday and Friday nights plus a rotating Saturday every third week, or Sunday and Tuesday nights plus a rotating Saturday every third week. Donation services require continuous 24/7 coverage, including weekends and holidays.
