About The Position
Performs surgical radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Surgical Radiologic Technologist reports to the Manager, Perioperative Services.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiographic program
- Certificate by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist in radiography, or registry eligible (must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists within 90 days of employment)
- Valid Mississippi Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) Licensure
- One year of experience as a registered Radiologic Technologist
- Ability to perform general diagnostic imaging as required
- Ability to speak and hear for effective communication
Responsibilities
- Performs surgical radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures at the request of a licensed practitioner
- Selects and operates radiography equipment, imaging, and associated accessories to perform non-invasive procedures
- Prepares, immobilizes, and positions patients and equipment to demonstrate anatomical area of interest
- Determines and evaluates radiographic technique exposure factors to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others
- Provides direct patient care, communicates needs to providers and evaluates outcomes
- Practices aseptic techniques
- Assist licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography and surgical procedures
- Communicates with all healthcare providers to assure quality of care
- Ensures completion of the study and posting to PACS
- Maintains quality control and quality assurance for the assigned area
- Properly identifies patient prior to performing examinations
- Evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality with proper recording of identification
- Reports any equipment malfunctions; documents in the proper system
- Participates in quality assessments and improvement plans
- Participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction
- Assist team members as requested or required
