About The Position

Spine Medicine & Surgery of Long Island is a premier, minimally invasive spinal surgery practice providing world-class, cutting-edge spinal care to the Tri-State area. We are rapidly expanding across Nassau and Suffolk Counties and are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Surgical Physician Assistant to join our growing team. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our dynamic clinical and surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedics, neurosurgery, or a related specialty, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with our physicians in both clinical and surgical settings, including serving as a first assist in spinal procedures.

Requirements

  • NCCPA Board Certification (PA-C) required
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant license
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant (spine, orthopedic, or neurosurgery preferred)
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Willingness to travel between Ronkonkoma, Garden City, Huntington, & Jamaica Estates locations

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial patient histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations
  • Serve as first assist in spinal surgeries, including cervical and lumbar fusions
  • Develop, document, and communicate patient care plans; ensure follow-through on all aspects of care
  • Perform inpatient rounds and evaluate inpatient and ER consults
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory work, and spinal imaging
  • Perform in-office procedures such as trigger-point and joint injections
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
