About The Position

NeoGenomics is looking for a Surgical Pathologist to join its Advanced Diagnostics team. This role focuses on providing safe and efficient Pathology and laboratory services to the NeoGenomics Pharma Pathology Division, with a primary emphasis on Clinical Trial case sign-out and validations. The position involves working with Project Managers to address project needs, performing diagnostic interpretation of biopsy, resection, and/or cytology material, and reading/interpreting laboratory data. The Surgical Pathologist will also be responsible for quality control and assurance procedures, collaborating with clinical and administrative staff, and providing expertise to technologists. Additionally, the role includes building relationships with referring physicians, contributing to decisions on new technologies, and assisting in the development of new testing services.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O degree and board certification/eligibility in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills to accomplish tasks.
  • Active unrestricted Medical License to practice in the state of CA is required.
  • Ability to fulfill CLIA ’88 if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship trained in Surgical Pathology strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of attending level experience in surgical pathology is strongly encouraged, or Board Certification in a subspecialty area within Anatomic Pathology that is pertinent to the job position.
  • Additional state medical licensure in FL, NY and TX is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Providing safe and efficient Pathology and laboratory services to NeoGenomics Pharma Pathology Division focusing on Clinical Trial case sign out and validations.
  • Working with multiple Project Managers to quickly address project needs.
  • Participating in day-to-day operations, including case consultation sign out responsibilities.
  • Interacting with clients for Pre-Analytical, Analytical, and Post-Analytical questions.
  • Performing diagnostic interpretation of biopsy, resection and/or cytology material to include gross and microscopic evaluation, dictation and electronic release of reviewed cases.
  • Reading and interpreting laboratory data.
  • Performing quality control and assurance procedures and participating in departmental professional quality control and quality assurance activities.
  • Working closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure the highest standards of TAT, quality, and customer service are maintained.
  • Providing expertise and assistance to technologists and technicians to resolve case issues.
  • Building effective relationships with referring physicians and ensuring excellent client follow-up.
  • Providing input in the decision-making process regarding utilization of state-of-the-art technologies, as well as innovative diagnostic or therapeutic testing in Surgical Pathology.
  • Assisting in developing new testing services based on medical/scientific advances and patient/client needs.
