About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) PA/Acute Care NP to join our Surgical Oncology team. The APP will work closely with our breast surgeons to provide comprehensive patient care for diseases of the breast. This role involves preoperative assessments, intraoperative assistance, postoperative management as well as long term follow up, focusing on breast cancer and diseases of the breast. The care of breast cancer patients will span the spectrum of care from prevention to treatments to palliation of advanced disease. The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in breast team focused patient care by means of patient examinations augmented by diagnostic and therapeutic evaluations/ interventions predominantly in outpatient clinics.
  • PA/NP will play a key role in team-focused breast cancer related care, conducting examinations and evaluations in predominantly outpatient settings.
  • Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plans.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams when needed for effective team-based care.
  • Attend and participate in tumor boards and breast cancer related conferences.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Procedural skills per department of surgery practice guidelines.
