Surgical Medical Assistant (Per-Diem)
About The Position
Water's Edge Dermatology, a part of the AQUA Dermatology portfolio, has remained dedicated to providing the highest level of comprehensive, personalized dermatologic care for patients of all ages in South Alabama and along the Gulf Coast since 2011. We are a full-service dermatology practice specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. With two fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons on staff, we offer on-site diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers at our Skin Cancer Surgery Center. The ideal per-diem Surgical Medical Assistant candidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized, and can multitask. The MA assists the Provider with patient visits, including consultative and surgical procedures.
Requirements
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co-workers
- Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider’s instructions, and know when to seek information or advice
- Proficient communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to travel between locations
- Hands-on experience in a clinical setting.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant (MA) Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License, or LPN
- Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred, not required
Responsibilities
- Assisting providers in delivering quality patient care.
- Greeting and preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
- Providing side-by-side assistance with surgical procedures.
- Assisting with instrument sterilization and ensuring exam rooms are clean and organized.
- Reviewing medical history, accurately and confidentially maintaining patient records and documentation, and maintaining notes in the EMR system.
- Obtaining appropriate consents when necessary.
- Call in prescriptions, return patient calls, and handle administrative duties as needed.
