The Surgical Inventory Coordinator/Specialist explores strategies to meet patient & surgeon’s case needs with cooperation of the team to maintain a safe efficient workflow at the Outpatient Surgery Center. Collaborates with Materials Management, staff physicians, and nursing staff utilizing the critical pathway, as available to guide the patient through the peri-operative stage in the most efficient, safe, and cost-effective manner. Provides input for staffing, performance, evaluation, health team coordination, and support for staff. In addition, it is expected that the BOSC Surgical Inventory Coordinator/Specialist continue to meet the competency requirement (as documented through competency review) of a Lead Central Service Reprocessing Technician. The Surgical Inventory Coordinator/Specialist will obtain a working knowledge of infection control and how it pertains to surgical instrumentation and equipment. Will be certified CS technician or successful scrub technician and demonstrate leadership skills in the processing and the operating room. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. If formally trained as a surgical scrub technician, acts as a scrub technician as needed within the department.
