Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certified First Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • First Surgical Assistant credentialed from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiovascular experience.
  • Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with surgeons during procedures to ensure seamless operations and exceptional patient outcomes in the operating room.
  • Position and prepare patients for surgery to maximize surgical access while prioritizing safety, dignity, and comfort.
  • Maintain a clear and controlled surgical field by anticipating surgeon needs, managing instruments and supplies, and supporting visualization throughout the procedure.
  • Support precise wound closure and post-procedure care to promote healing and reduce the risk of complications.
  • Prepare and reset the surgical suite efficiently to uphold sterile standards and ensure the team is ready for the next case.
