About The Position

MPOWERHealth is seeking a Surgical First Assist to support general orthopedic and spine surgeries in Fort Collins, Colorado. The role provides first-assist support during robotic and traditional surgeries, helps maintain a sterile field and optimize patient positioning, and works with the operating-room team to promote efficient procedures and positive patient outcomes. The position also supports patients before and after surgery, including case confirmation, documentation, transfers, and handovers to PACU staff. The Surgical First Assist may participate in clinical and operational improvement projects, training, and process enhancements, while developing expertise in additional surgical specialties.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assist with general orthopedic and spine experience.
• Graduation from an accredited PA, NP, RNFA, or CSA program.
• Active Colorado state license and applicable national certification, such as NCCPA for PAs or CNOR or RNFA for NPs.
• Proficiency with MS Office and EMR systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse operating-room environments.
• Ability to work effectively as an adaptable team player in a fast-paced surgical setting.
• Commitment to continuous learning and exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first assist during robotic and traditional general orthopedic and spine surgeries.
• Anticipate surgeon needs, maintain a sterile field, and optimize patient positioning.
• Collaborate with the operating-room team to support precision, efficiency, and positive patient outcomes.
• Connect with patients before surgery and help ensure they feel informed and at ease.
• Confirm cases, manage essential documentation, and facilitate patient transfers.
• Provide detailed handovers to PACU staff to support continuity of care.
• Engage in clinical and operational improvement projects, including training and process enhancements.
• Learn additional surgical specialties and keep current with developments in surgery.
