This is a Term Full-Time Term Position (1.0 FTE) from August 5, 2026, to August 5, 2027. The position is at the L10 level with an hourly pay range of $54.39 - $72.65. Reporting to the Clinical Care Manager (CCM), the Surgical Charge plays a pivotal leadership role in coordinating and overseeing the delivery of safe, high-quality Surgical inpatient nursing care, as well as providing after-hours leadership to the Maternity and Mental Health departments. As both a clinical and administrative resource, the Charge supports nursing staff, manages patient flow and bed utilization, and ensures that care is delivered in alignment with professional standards, organizational policies, and safety protocols. Key responsibilities include patient assignments, coordination of care delivery, liaison with the interdisciplinary team, oversight of admissions, transfers, and discharges, supply management, mentoring and supporting staff, and assisting with staffing and scheduling needs. The Charge also provides direct patient care as required, responding to changing clinical conditions and patient acuity. This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, advanced clinical judgment, and sound problem-solving skills, along with expertise in acute inpatient care and the ability to maintain composure in a dynamic hospital environment.
