About The Position

Regions Hospital is looking for a Per Diem Surgical Assistant to join our team! Under the direction of the Service Line Supervisor and Director of Surgical Services, the Surgical Assistant is responsible for the proper handling and sterilization of instruments and equipment to render them safe for handling and use. This role also monitors, stocks, and fills supplies, assists with the cleaning of the department, transports patients, supplies, and specimens, and assists with other duties as assigned. This role requires knowledge and/or training in aseptic technique. The Surgical Assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform transport and transfer, based on physical, psychosocial, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, which may be gained through education, training, or experience.

Requirements

• Knowledge and/or training in aseptic technique

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant/health care assistant training program
• Six months of experience in a healthcare setting
