About The Position

The Surgery Veterinary Technician joins a collaborative clinical team and works in a fast-paced surgery department, with opportunities for training across multiple facets of the department and interaction with other hospital teams. The role requires strong communication to liaise between surgeons and clients and to provide post-operative care instructions.

Requirements

Prior veterinary experience is required.
Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
Previous surgery experience desired.

Responsibilities

Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, maintain medical records, handle invoicing, and discharge patients.
Fill medications, enter charges, maintain accurate medical records, and schedule appointments.
Create patient releases and discuss treatment plans and financial obligations with clients.
Prepare patients for surgery by shaving, scrubbing, and positioning them; assist with intubation and radiographs.
Perform blood draws and submit bloodwork.
Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
Open, turn over, and clean operating rooms; clean instruments and wrap packs.
