About The Position

VERC is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team and work alongside board-certified surgeons providing advanced specialty surgical care. This is a great opportunity for a Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant with strong anesthesia and surgical skills who wants to work with complex orthopedic and soft tissue cases in a specialty hospital. Veterinary Technician credentialing is preferred but not required.

Requirements

Hands-on veterinary clinical experience with a strong interest or background in Surgery and anesthesia.
Experience with anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery.
Confidence with anesthetic calculations, CRIs, fluid therapy, and medication administration.
Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and operating room protocols.
Strong patient monitoring and nursing skills.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency, Critical Care, or Specialty veterinary experience preferred.
RVT, CVT, LVT, or VTS credentialing preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients, surgical suites, equipment, and instruments for specialty surgical procedures.
Induce, monitor, and recover patients undergoing anesthesia.
Assist with orthopedic, soft tissue, thoracic, laparoscopic, and arthroscopic procedures.
Provide hands-on surgical nursing care throughout the perioperative process.
Calculate and administer medications, fluids, and CRIs as directed.
Maintain sterile technique and assist surgeons during procedures.
Monitor patients closely and respond to changes during anesthesia and recovery.
Maintain surgical equipment, instruments, anesthesia records, and medical documentation.
