About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Framingham, MA is hiring for an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery team! This role involves providing nursing care to stable patients, performing physical exams, administering fluids, and operating intravenous fluid pumps. You will work alongside passionate specialists and emergency teams, utilizing leading-edge resources in a collaborative culture that prioritizes learning and exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
  • Ability to perform physical exams and accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understanding of normal vital parameters and ability to alert doctor when abnormal.
  • Ability to set up intravenous fluids.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous fluids.
  • Proficiency in operating all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshooting errors.
  • Ability to aseptically disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids.
  • Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
  • Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
