The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgery with patients, posting surgeries at designated hospitals, and scheduling preoperative and post-operative office appointments. This role involves compiling patient surgery charts and appropriate paperwork, completing preliminary paperwork for physician review, and obtaining pre-certification/insurance checks. The scheduler will also copy surgical paperwork for hospitals, coordinate with facilities for pre-operative tests, and arrange for special equipment from instrumentation companies. Additionally, they will prepare and distribute the weekly surgical posting sheet for billing, perform general receptionist duties, and utilize computerized software systems for scheduling and order entry. The role requires strong teamwork, communication with nurses and physicians, and maintaining compliance with facility, DNV, State, and HIPAA requirements. It also involves direct admits, identifying and resolving issues, coordinating pre-op tests, providing prep instructions, notifying Patient Navigation for cancer cases, setting up physical therapy, and performing surgery line-ups. The position requires approximately 90% face-to-face customer service and obtaining appropriate authorization for reimbursement.
