Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with EMR systems
  • Demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Utilize clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per the provider’s templates.
  • Schedule office-based and out-patient based procedures consistent with the patient’s diagnosis and procedure request.
  • Correspond via email to both internal and external providers/practices to gather required scheduling information.
  • Schedule medical procedures for patients with the appropriate provider and time/location slot, using appropriate scheduling templates.
  • Enter notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete accurate documentation for patients for scheduled procedures and surgeries.
  • Provide accurate, detailed information to patients regarding appointment preparations, arrival times, and any other necessary directional information, and respond to patient questions.
  • Confirm the patient’s insurance provider and collaborate with internal staff to obtain prior authorizations/referrals and necessary paperwork.
  • Assist other members of the department as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
