About The Position

Our Thoracic Surgery Ambulatory Clinic is seeking a dedicated Surgery Coordinator to help guide patients through every step of their surgical journey while supporting our surgeons and clinical team. This role is responsible for managing surgical scheduling, coordinating pre- and post-operative care, communicating with patients and healthcare providers, and ensuring all required documentation is complete for a seamless surgical experience. The clinic is located in Kingman, Arizona.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a healthcare office setting, including scheduling, surgical coordination, and/or insurance authorizations.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulder level, lift, bend, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and sit throughout the scheduled workday.
  • Ability to use a computer, electronic medical record, and telephone for approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Duties involve possible, but not routine, exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of surgical scheduling, including surgeon, surgical assistant, operating room, and patient scheduling.
  • Arrange and coordinate pre-operative testing, preparation, and post-operative follow-up appointments.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, surgeons, hospitals, referring providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Coordinate referrals and assist with insurance authorizations and surgery-related billing processes.
  • Educate patients regarding their upcoming surgery, including procedure expectations, risks, benefits, recovery, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate, including informed consent, sterilization consent (when applicable), and verification of advance directive status.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and support efficient clinic operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
